Oasis wildman Noel Gallagher refused to record a WORLD CUP anthem for the English soccer team - because his Irish uncles would have killed him.

Although the LIVE FOREVER star was raised in the English town of Manchester, he still pledges his support to Ireland - and flatly rejected an invitation to pen the official England tune for last year's (02) World Cup competition.

He says, "I do follow England because they have some good players. But when push comes to shove, I'm in the Ireland end. I've always supported Ireland since I was a kid.

"Oasis were asked to do the England song and go on at Wembley - my uncles would have killed me!"
