Spanish rock newcomers Deers have been forced to change their name after they were threatened with legal action from a rival group.

The four-piece, founded by Ana Garcia Perrote and Carlotta Cosials, broke the news to fans online on Wednesday (07Jan15), revealing they will now be known as Hinds to avoid "confusion" with another band with a similar name to Deers.

A statement issued to NME.com reads: "We have to change our name. We mean... they force (sic) us to. We received an email from a Canadian lawyer saying that our name created confusion with his band's name. And that name is not even Deers...

"We tried out best, really, but we have no choice. So... Okay!!! Lets (sic) take this with a smile!!!!! Deers are now Hinds!"

Hinds did not name who they had received the legal threat from.
