British rocker Freddie Cowan has built a signature model guitar.
The Vaccines musician, who spent a year helping to design the instrument, will join iconic guitarists including Eddie Van Halen, Santana and Kurt Cobain in the elite group of musicians with custom axes baring their name.
He contacted manufacturers Farida while searching for a guitar with the right sound during his band's Australian tour with fellow British group Two Door Cinema Club, and the company promptly offered to build him a custom instrument.
Cowan tells NME magazine, "I couldn't find a guitar that sounded how I wanted. I found out Sam (Halliday, from Two Door Cinema Club) had just had a guitar built by Farida so I spoke to them and they emailed and offered me a signature model. It was perfect. I never thought it would be on the cards. But of course, I jumped at the opportunity."
