Rocker Nils Lofgren has dedicated his new album Old School to the memory of his late E Street Band sidekick Clarence Clemons.
The guitarist is still heartbroken about the death of his friend, who passed earlier this year (11), aged 69, and he has altered the lyrics to a new song he wrote about the passing of another pal, Ray Charles, so he can pay tribute to Clemons.
He tells, "I'm so heartbroken Clarence is gone. We were dear friends. I talked to him every week off the road, had a much greater friendship with him offstage than on, even though I stood next to him for 27 years.
"There's a song called Miss You Ray (on the album) about Ray Charles' passing, and it's a metaphor for saying goodbye to family and friends... and I've rearranged the lyrics live to apply to my friend Clarence."
The new album features guests spots from rock legends Paul Rodgers and Lou Gramm and veteran soul man Sam Moore.
