Lindsay Lohan Struggles To Remember Lines In 'Speed-The-Plow' West End Debut

Lindsay Lohan Madonna Elisabeth Moss Nigel Lindsay

When Lindsay Lohan was cast in David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow back in June, she claimed to be "nervous but excited" about her theatre debut. Unfortunately, in the first previews of the show in London's West End on Wednesday (24th September), nerves reportedly got the better of the Mean Girls actress.

Breakfast With Jonny Wilkinson Review

Good

Warm and likeable but rather thin, this gentle British comedy spins a tangled farce around the 2003 Rugby World Cup. With its limited setting and small cast, it feels like the filmed version of the play that it is. Even so, it's a playful look at sporting fans at the moment of a great national triumph, and rising star George MacKay (How I Live Now) makes the most of his underwritten character.

He plays Jake, the hot-shot young player on a club team somewhere in England. This morning the team's clubhouse is hosting live telecast of the World Cup Final, with England playing Australia in Sydney. But only seven people have turned up. Club manager Dave (Pace) is preoccupied because his position is being challenged in an upcoming election by Aussie goofball Matt (Beckley) and rugby obsessive Nigel (Lindsay), whose wife couldn't have picked a worse time to go into labour. It doesn't help that Matt is cheering for the wrong side today, or that he brought his sexy friend Lena (Varela) along. Although Jake doesn't mind having her around.

Each of these characters has something pivotal going on in his or her life. Also on hand are the feisty Nina (Cordingly), captain of the club's championship ladies' team, and a provocative journalist (played by playwright and screenwriter England) covering the fans' reaction to the big match. As the game progresses, these people get up to all sorts of tangled mayhem. At the centre, MacKay shines as the insecure young man who feels such a connection with England's captain Jonny Wilkinson that he heads out to the field to mimic his every kick.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa - Clips

Alan Partridge is a fatuous, egocentric radio host that has been one of telly's most famous fictitious comedy icons for several years. He now makes a return to screen as his employers, North Norfolk Digital based in Norwich, are about to be taken over by rival media company, Gordale Media, and branded the new name, 'Shape'. People's jobs are now on the line but Alan and his sidekick Simon look like they'll be able to save their shows; one thing's for sure, he's certainly trying to get on the good side of new top boss Jason Tresswell. However, when one DJ is sacked, there's more conflict in the company than they could ever have imagined when they are thrown under siege and brutally held hostage.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa Trailer

Alan Partridge makes a return as the superficial radio nitwit we all love in the upcoming next instalment of the Partridge franchise 'Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa'. The trailer now released shows Alan discussing movie titles with his associates, being particularly drawn to the title 'Colossal Velocity'. When the title 'Alpha Papa' is suggested, appropriately representing his initials in the radio alphabet and loosely meaning 'top daddy', he is underwhelmed, sticking as usual to his own thoughts. The film takes place in Norwich, Norfolk where his employer North Norfolk Digital is about to be taken over in a brutal siege by a major media company and given the new name, Shape.
