Nicole Richie warns not to be too colourful when wearing graphic prints.
The fashion designer warns its easy to go over the top when it comes to bright prints, and end up looking like you'd be more at home on a campsite.
She told PEOPLE: ''Look for prints that have a darker background and the accent is a pop of colour, as opposed to a large, overall bright print. ''That's the difference in what makes you look like a colourful tent or actually complementing the body.''
The 31-year-old beauty - famed for wearing oversized glasses - had less advice when it comes to accessories, other than to recommend piling on the jewellery.
She added: ''If I was telling someone how to accessorise, I would just say keep throwing on the jewellery, keep throwing on the glasses - that's just how I do it. But you have to do what's comfortable for you.''
Nicole's House of Harlow 1960 label has also recently created a handbag for Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP Collection.
The designer has created the 'Addison' handbag, a classic snakeskin clutch in oxblood and teal with a jaguar closure on top for the Gwyneth's exclusive designer collaboration range, with the venture ''born out of a personal friendship between Nicole and Gwyneth''.
Nicole said: ''Creating an exclusive piece for GOOP was a wonderful experience.''
