Nicole Kidman has expressed her desire to have children with her new husband Keith Urban.

The Oscar-winning actress married Urban in June last year, only for the country singer to enter rehab in October for three months following problems with alcoholism.

But with his stint over and his health said to be doing well, it seems that children could now be the next thing on Kidman's mind.

During an interview with fellow Aussie actor Russell Crowe on an Oprah Winfrey special television show last night, Kidman said: "Am I going to have a baby? I hope so."

When Crowe, a friend of Kidman, said that he would like to see her "walking around barefoot and pregnant" she smiled and said "I'd like to see that too".

Kidman has two children from her marriage to Tom Cruise, 13-year-old Isabella Jane and 12-year-old Connor Anthony.

Speaking about her husband's progress, she said: "Keith's doing very well. We've been through a lot.

"We've dug really deep. Three months into our marriage we had to dig really deep, and that's what we are doing, and we're in the process of doing that."

Since leaving rehab Urban has resumed postponed promotional engagements for his latest album, Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing.
