British pop star Nicola Roberts and actress Jane Asher are among the red-headed stars swinging into action to raise awareness about endangered orangutans.
The Girls Aloud singer and the Alfie star have pledged their support to The Jungle Vip drive, which is holding an auction in aid of the threatened Sumatran Orangutan, which is in danger of being wiped out due to poaching.
Roberts says, "I'm a big animal lover, so I was really interested in this cause. It's really apparent that we're not only destroying our part of the planet, but the whole animal kingdom - their part of the planet is the first to be hit and that needs to be talked about."
She has donated an animal-print dress she wore to bandmate Kimberley Walsh's 30th birthday in November (11), while Asher has handed over a green silk evening gown.
She adds, "A loss of a species is a loss to all of us and to our descendants. I'm pleased to do a bit to redress the balance."
The auction kicks off on 1 March (12) on ebay.co.uk.
