Puerto Rican rapper Wisin has revealed his newborn daughter was born with a rare genetic disorder.
The reggaeton star, one half of music duo Wisin & Yandel, discussed his family's battle with Puerto Rico TV programme Lo Se Todo, revealing that his daughter Victoria was born with trisomy 13 - a condition that causes a number of birth defects including developmental delay and issues involving nearly every organ system.
The star also admitted his wife Yomaira is also suffering from depression due to Victoria's diagnosis, and their entire family is hurting.
Wisin, real name Juan Luis Morera Luna, also released a statement regarding their daughter, which reads: "As the public now knows, our daughter Victoria was born a couple of days ago. She was diagnosed with trisomy 13 and is in a stable condition. I have always respected and collaborated with the press about every my professional career. But on this occasion, our daughter's health is the most important thing for us.
"In this respectful manner, we request the space to face this situation in the privacy of our family. We want to take advantage of this moment to thank everyone for the love that we have received. Like any other parent, we ask that you all continue to pray for us so that we can overcome this process and that our daughter will be able to recover soon. God will fulfill his purpose in our Victoria."
Fellow Latin star Nicky Jam took to Instagram on Tuesday (06Sep16) to share his words of encouragement for his friend, writing, "Here praying for your baby, who is an angel from God. We have to leave it in his hands because he never fails us. I love you, and I know that God loves you more and that your baby will come out of this."
Wisin and his wife are also parents to eight-year-old daughter Yelena and seven-year-old son Dylan.
