Latin singer Nicky Jam had extra reason to celebrate at his concert on Friday (29Jul16) after he was presented with the accolades he won at the recent SESAC Latina Music Awards.
The pop star was not in attendance at the June (16) ceremony, where his hit song El Perdon was named Song of the Year, so SESAC bosses stopped by his show at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Friday to deliver the trophy to Nicky themselves.
During the presentation, he was also handed four other awards for the success of his hits on the Billboard charts.
"This is all because of you," the emotional star told the crowd as he received the honours. "Without the fans, there is no artist."
Before performing the summer smash, he explained, "When I wrote this song, people would tell me it was too romantic and that it wouldn't be accepted by reggaeton fans. But I told them that people like us also have emotions. And thanks to this song, I am where I am."
Nicky also treated concert-goers to hits like Sunset, Cheerleader, and Ay vamos, while he also invited one of his opening acts, Zion Y Lennox, back onstage to perform Hasta el amanecer for the show finale, according to Billboard.com.
