British writer Nick Hornby was impressed by the American movie of his book FEVER PITCH - but still prefers the 1997 UK film version.

The first adaptation of his novel starred Colin Firth, but Hornby admits the new release is a guaranteed box-office success thanks to big Hollywood money, not to mention the mass appeal of its star, Drew Barrymore.

Despite Barrymore's film being released under the name Fever Pitch, the movie has been renamed THE PERFECT CATCH for UK cinemas in a bid of avoid confusion.

He says, "I do like this film, but the first one is much closer to my heart because I wrote the screenplay for it.

"I think Drew Barrymore, in particular, does a wonderful job. This one had a lot more money and that makes a difference."
