Hit musical WICKED is the toast of Broadway yet again after breaking the all-time Broadway record with a weekly box office take of $1.72 million (GBP952,800). The show, which features the 'untold story of The Wizard of Oz,' broke its own previous record of $1.61 million (GBP895,000) last week (ends24NOV06). In addition to being the largest weekly gross in Broadway history, the figure also set a new house record at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre, where the musical opened in October 2003.
Many ticket-holders couldn't get into the O2 Arena show on Tuesday night (September 19th) because they didn't bring photo ID to match their booking.
An album re-release, a new song and a documentary mark the singer's legacy this year.
