Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni introduced controversial legislation outlawing homosexuality and porn in February (15), and now the popular African singer, real name Jemimah Kansiime, faces prison time for testing the new laws.

Officials took offence to the 21 year old's Ensolo Yange video, in which the pop star can be seen dancing provocatively in her underwear.

The video was released in September (14) and she was arrested at the end of the year. Her manager was also detained but released after pleading guilty to a lewd act charge and paying a fine.

Panadol will become the first person to be tried under the new Anti-Pornography Act and she is scheduled to appear in court next month (Jun15).

The defiant star tells Agence France-Presse, "When I was making that video I never intended it for children; I intended it for adults. I did not sell or distribute the song. My rights have been trampled upon; my freedom of expression has been trampled upon", while adding, "I have not benefited from that video."
