Brooks played Dr. Rudy Wells on the 1970s TV series and its spin-off, The Bionic Woman.

His character oversaw the bionic implants of Lee Majors' Steve Austin and Jaime Sommers, played by Lindsay Wagner on the two shows.

He also appeared in Knots Landing, MCMillan & Wife, Cagney & Lacey and Dallas.

Brooks was also a Broadway star, appearing onstage in John Steinbeck’s Burning Bright, Enemy of the People and I Am a Camera.

He also tasted active duty in the U.S. Army and became a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries received in battle.

Brooks also taught at the Tracy Roberts Acting School, which he co-owned with his late friend Tracy Roberts.

His talents extended into the world of literature and he wrote two novels, while his play Flo and Joe was optioned for a Broadway production.
