Celebrated conductor Mariss Jansons is to retire from his prestigious post at Holland's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Rco).

The music maestro has confirmed he will give up his position at the helm of Amsterdam's famous Rco after a decade in charge.

He will take his final bow at the end of the 2014-2015 season, although he will continue working with Germany's Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Jansons, 71, is considered one of the world's most celebrated conductors, but has experienced a number of health problems in recent years.
