Although Time Warner Cable has removed several cable networks from its recently introduced iPad app at their request, it is not about to abandon the app, and it is now asking the courts to decide whether it has the right to send its signal to iPads in the homes of its subscribers. On Thursday, it filed a request for a declaratory judgment against Viacom, which owns several of the television networks pulled from the Time Warner Cable app. A short time later, Viacom filed a countersuit against TWC alleging breach of contract and copyright violations, saying that Time Warner Cable "blatantly grabbed the rights that their competitors have negotiated in good faith to obtain."
