More than 2000 people gathered to pay their respects for the late M-BONE at his funeral, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Montae "M-BONE" Talbert, who was one of the four members of hip-hop group Cali Swag District, was killed in a drive-by shooting on 15 May, aged 22.
The three remaining members of Cali Swag District joined members of M-BONE's family, friends and fans at the Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, California. Cali Swag District member Yung announced to the crowd: 'Since the sixth grade, me and him been dancing together but I never got to tell him this: He taught me a lot'. Previously, other member Smoove had suggested in a video on TMZ that M-BONE's shooting 'had nothing to do with gang violence. It wasn't nothing like that. It was just a 'wrong place at the wrong time' situation.' The police still have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting.
In memory of M-BONE, Cali Swag District recorded a tribute to their fellow member last week called 'How to Do That (M-Bone Tribute).' The track was released on 23 May (2011), a week after M-BONE's death.
'Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing)' arrives in April.
The two awards have made for a great 72nd birthday present for the country music icon.
