Friends and family of acclaimed Polish composer Wojciech Kilar gathered with leading politicians to pay their final respects at the musician's funeral on Saturday (04Jan13).
Kilar, who composed scores for more than 130 films including The Pianist and Bram Stoker's Dracula, passed away aged 81 on 29 December (13) in Katowice, Poland after suffering from a long illness.
Poland's First Lady Anna Komorowska and the country's culture minister Bogdan Zdrojewski joined members of the musician's family and friends and hundreds of fans at the funeral service, which was held at Katowice's Cathedral of Christ the King.
During the service, Zdrojewski called Kilar a "gem in the crown of Poland's and world's music."
He's certainly not wasting his newfound talents.
