Spain's foreign language Oscar candidate THE ORPHANAGE and EMILIO MARTINEZ LAZARO's 13 ROSES have topped the nominations for the 22nd Goya Awards - with 14 apiece. The two films will compete for Best Film in Spain's Academy Awards equivalent at the prize-giving event in February (08). The Orphanage has already won a series of Spanish and international film awards, and it's the highest-grossing Spanish film ever, but local critics claim 13 Roses has the edge in the competition.
