British rock event Bestival has been marred by controversy after a teenager was allegedly raped on the site.
Police are investigating after a 15-year-old girl claimed she was sexually assaulted at the four-day music festival, which took place last week (08-11Sep11) on the Isle of Wight.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson says, "The girl, who is from the island, is being looked after by staff with expertise in dealing with sexual offences. Detectives are appealing for information."
More than 50,000 fans attended the festival, which featured headliners Bjork, The Cure, Kelis and PJ Harvey.
