American football superstar Aldon Smith was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday (13Apr14).
The San Francisco 49ers linebacker was making his way through security at the airport when he allegedly falsely claimed he had a bomb.
Police were called and he was arrested and charged. He was subsequently released on bail after paying a $20,000 (£12,500) bond.
Smith faces up to a year behind bars if convicted on a charge of making a false bomb threat.
A spokesperson for the San Francisco 49ers says, "We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith. As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment."
