American soul singer MARIO NORMAN has pleaded not guilty to an assault charge after he was accused of punching an Australian politician in Sydney.
The 24 year old was arrested following claims he hit Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Gibson during an altercation, which is said to have taken place in the parking lot of a MCDonald's in June (10).
Norman appeared at the city's Manly Local Court on Thursday (29Jul10) where he pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The star alleges Gibson sparked the dispute by running over his foot with his car, telling reporters outside the court, "He ran over my shoes. I love my shoes and he hurt my foot. If someone ran over your foot what would you do? You would want an apology, that's how we do it in America, we apologise."
