Australian actor JAMES SORENSEN has quit his starring role in soap opera NEIGHBOURS to forge a career in the army.
The 23 year old plays teenager Declan Napier in the show but announced in January (10) he will be leaving the series that made him famous to pursue "other interests aside from acting".
And his co-star Jordan Smith has revealed Sorensen has signed up as an army recruit.
He says, "He's really serious about it. It's just something he really wants to do. He's been training really hard, but I wish he'd stay. He's become a really good mate. I've told him he's going to get shot on his first day, but he's adamant he wants to go!"
He'll be performing a new residency at an intimate theatre.
