Critically acclaimed movie SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE remains atop the U.K. box office charts in its triumphant third week of release. The Danny Boyle-directed film, up for 10 Academy Awards next month (Feb09), is still the top dog after earning $3.9 million (£2.8 million) in the last week (ends25Jan09).
The film, whose cast won the Best Ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (25Jan09), catapulted ahead of Tom Cruise's World War II thriller Valkyrie, which came second and profited $1.5 million (£1.1 million).
Horror movie My Bloody Valentine 3-D jumped up one position to number three, while Will Smith's drama Seven Pounds and Underworld: Rise of The Lycans rounded out the top five.
