Sir Patrick Stewart has spoken out against plans to build a new sewer system near his London home, insisting the construction work will cause "unimaginable" disturbances.
The British actor has joined the Save Your Riverside Action Group to protest against Thames Water bosses' proposal to install a massive new 'super-sewer' in the Bermondsey area of the U.K. capital.
Sir Patrick is convinced construction of the 20-mile (32-kilometre) tunnel system will cause chaos in his local neighbourhood, and he is urging officials to think again.
He says, "Environment, health and living conditions may be unimaginably damaged, restrained and blighted for a significant number of years. There will be a period of time where Thames Water is planning to work 24/7 for three years - you don't need to have an actor's imagination to know what this would mean to us as individuals and to the neighbourhood as a whole."
