Bhangra pop singer DALER MEHNDI has been ordered to return to court later this month (30OCT06) to face charges of immigration fraud. The Indian music star appeared before a local court in Patiala last week (11OCT06), but the case was adjourned. Mehndi and his brother SHAMSHER are facing charges under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Indian Passport Act for allegedly sending people abroad illegally through his troupe. The case was brought after one of their reported victims, BAKSHISH SINGH, complained he was duped of a large sum of money by the Mehndi brothers, who had promised to bring him on tour and leave him in a western country to live. After failing to carry out the plan, the Mehndis allegedly threatened Singh to ensure his silence.
The actor says he isn't "holding out for more money or doing anything like that".
The drama will be making its return to the streaming service in the near future.
