The veteran singer, 59, began her two-year sentence for money laundering in late 2014, but she has been granted a number of short breaks in recent months, allowing her to leave the Alcala de Guadaira jail, near Seville, to spend time with her family.

Her most recent period of temporary leave took place in October (15), when she spent time at her farm in Cadiz, and, on Friday (04Dec15), a judge at the Provincial Court of Malaga ruled Pantoja will now only need to stay in her cell from Mondays to Thursdays, and can enjoy time with her loved ones every weekend.

The decision still needs the approval of prison board officials, who have the authority to implement probation rules if they agree to let Pantoja walk free every Friday, reports Spanish news agency Efe.

The news will give Pantoja's spirits a boost before the holidays after her latest appeal to overturn her 2013 conviction was rejected.

Her ex-boyfriend, politician Julian Munoz, for whom she was convicted of laundering the cash, was jailed for seven years for his part in the corruption scheme, which provided building permits in exchange for bribes.
