A signed copy of the BEATLES' SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND album has smashed estimates by pulling in a massive $290,500 (£181,563) at auction.
The record, autographed by every member of the Fab Four, stunned experts by exceeding its expected price of $110,000 (£68,750) in pre-sale bidding a week before the auction in Texas, and it finally sold on Saturday (30Mar13) for nearly 10 times its initial $30,000 (£18,750) estimate.
The album was sold to an anonymous buyer during the Heritage Auctions event in Dallas.
The previous record for a signed Beatles album cover was set at $150,000 (£93,750) which was paid for a copy of Meet the Beatles.
Many ticket-holders couldn't get into the O2 Arena show on Tuesday night (September 19th) because they didn't bring photo ID to match their booking.
