Rising Australian actor Ryan Corr pleaded guilty to heroin possession at a court hearing in Sydney on Tuesday (02Sep14).
Corr, who stars in Russell Crowe's upcoming directorial debut The Water Diviner, admitted a charge of possessing a prohibited drug after police officers caught him with a bag of heroin.
However, Corr walked away from Waverley Local Court on Tuesday without a conviction.
His lawyer Chris Murphy argued it would hinder his acting career as he could be banned from entering certain countries. Magistrate Julie Huber agreed and said, "It is quite clear that you are a young man with a long, successful acting career and there is nothing to suggest that career won't continue."
The court was also told that Corr had not taken the drug and no drug-taking equipment was found in his possession.
He was handed a 12-month good behaviour bond, which is similar to probation.
