Russian leader Vladimir Putin is a single man again after his divorce from his wife of 30 years was finalised.

The President and his wife Lyudmila announced their plans to separate last summer (Jun13), and now a spokesperson at the Kremlin has confirmed the marriage is over for good.

Putin previously revealed the decision to separate and divorce was a "joint decision" based on the fact the couple "practically never saw each other".

His wife added, "We will eternally be very close people."

The couple has two grown-up daughters, Maria and Yekaterina.
