The debut of 20th Century Fox's animated Rio debuted at the top of the DVD and Blu-ray sales charts last week, taking in five times the reals (well, dollars real-ly) that its closest competitor did, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert. (Actual sales figures are not disclosed.) Sales of the Blu-ray version reportedly got a big boost from a promotion that gives purchasers a code that opens 15 new levels of the video game Angry Birds, which has been downloaded onto 50 million computers, cellphones, and tablet devices. The top renter of the week was Soul Surfer (a distant No. 2 on the sales chart.
