British pop star Ricky Ross has been named an ambassador for the Scottish city of Dundee.
The Deacon Blue frontman, who hails from the area, will be feted with the honour when he plays a gig at the city's Caird Hall on Thursday (04Dec14).
The ambassador role is part of Dundee's One City, Many Discoveries campaign to help promote the area.
Ross says, "From a distance, it was (soccer club) Dundee United and their European adventures that were most noticeable to people I met around the world. I'm glad to say that I manage to get back often. One of my daughters recently graduated from Dundee university and of course I come back to (the club's stadium) Tannadice. Dundee is a great city with a proud heritage."
