A Grammy nominated reggae star has been arrested in Jamaica for harbouring a fugitive who shot and injured three policemen.
Luciano, real name Jepther McClaymont, was charged and released on bail yesterday after Andrew "the Conqueror" Senior shot at police from Luciano's house in the capital Kingston, before being shot and killed by officers in an hour-long shoot-out.
Two policemen are still in hospital following the incident, but their condition is said to be stable.
Police Superintendent McArthur Sutherland confirmed the 44-year-old Rastafarian singer had been charged and released on bail, and would appear in court on April 9th.
Luciano's lawyer Delano Franklyn refused to comment on the charges made against his client.
Luciano was nominated for a Grammy for his 2001 release "A New Day", and was awarded an Order of Distinction by the Jamaican government for his contribution to the development of reggae music in 2007.
He had been due to play several dates in the US and Germany in March and May.
