Cancer-stricken country star Ray Price has issued a farewell message to fans as he prepares for his final days in the comfort of his own home.
The ailing singer suffered a health setback on Monday (09Dec13), when he was admitted to the intensive care unit at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas and family members have confirmed his pancreatic cancer has spread to his liver, intestines and lungs.
His son, Clifton, broke the news to fans online on Tuesday (10Dec13) and admitted doctors' "general opinion is that he will not be going home".
However, on Thursday (12Dec13), the For the Good Times hitmaker's wife, Janie Price, revealed the 87 year old wanted to spend his final days at his Mount Pleasant property.
A statement released by Janie reads: "Ray is alert and aware of his surroundings and making decisions. With God's blessing he has not had extreme pain... It's his decision to leave the hospital and return home to spend his final days on his beloved ranch surrounded by the comfort of his home, family and friends."
Price, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2011, has also shared a final message with supporters, stating, "I love my fans and have devoted my life to reaching out to them. I appreciate their support all these years and I hope I haven't let them down. I am at peace. I love Jesus. I'm going to be just fine. Don't worry about me. I'll see you again one day."
The '12 Years A Slave' director will receive the accolade at the London Film Festival in October.
Critics from all over the world were asked to name the best movie of the past 16 years.
