Sunday's contest was no exception, as the contest averaged 9.9 million viewers, peaking in the 8:00 p.m. hour with 12.1 million, but fizzling to 7.1 million by the time the 10:00 p.m. hour came around, when it was overtaken by CBS's The Mentalist with 10.3 million viewers. Sunday night's ratings for the game were down 20.8 percent from last year's Pro Bowl game, when it attracted 12.5 million viewers -- and that telecast, in turn, was down 8.1 percent from 2011. Last year, USA Today solicited responses on its website to the question, Is Pro Bowl the worst all-star game in sports?
