Unique footage of sixties superstar MATT MONRO in concert has been discovered 20 years after his death.
The film - believed to be the only recording of him in concert - was on the verge of being thrown away with other clutter by his daughter MICHELE and widow MICKIE when it was found under a pile of music scores.
The 1967 cabaret concert shows the late singer - who died of cancer in 1985 - performing 13 of his hits, including FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, WALK AWAY and SOFTLY AS I LEAVE YOU.
His daughter Michele says, "It was covered in cobwebs and it came very close to being thrown away on a number of occasions.
"Sadly when Matt died video was not really around. Although we have the music we all want a bit more and it is lovely to see someone perform naturally."
The footage is being released on DVD tomorrow (07MAR05) titled AN EVENING WITH MATT MONRO.06/03/2005 21:19
