Rising rapper Bobby Shmurda is facing up to 15 years behind bars following his arrest on gun possession charges.
The 20-year-old star, who has shot to fame with his so-called 'Shmoney Dance' from his Hot N**ga video, was busted by police on 3 June (14) after allegedly showing off a 9mm Glock pistol in an apartment in Brooklyn, New York.
He was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, which could land him a lengthy prison sentence.
Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard, is currently free on $10,000 (£5,882) bail, reports the New York Post.
News of the charge emerges a day after a New Jersey nightclub appearance by Shmurda ended in chaos when an estimated 200 fans ran for cover as gun shots rang out outside Club Eden.
The rapper, fresh from a surprise appearance onstage with Drake at his Tuesday night (26Aug14) show in New Jersey, had already left the premises when a driver leaving the venue early on Thursday (28Aug14) fired off two shots in the Roselle car park. No one was hit by the bullets, but cops raced to the scene to control the panicked crowd and help clear the area.
Many ticket-holders couldn't get into the O2 Arena show on Tuesday night (September 19th) because they didn't bring photo ID to match their booking.
An album re-release, a new song and a documentary mark the singer's legacy this year.
The film will be the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe led by a person of colour.
The actor plays the titular hero in the forthcoming adaptation.
