R&B singer R. Kelly's youngest daughter Jaya has "come out" as transgender.
The I Believe I Can Fly hitmaker's 13-year-old child made the announcement on his Facebook.com page, describing himself as a "transguy", who is now going by the name Jay Kelly.
In a question and answer session on website Ask.fm, Kelly explained that he has identified as a male since he was "6 or 7" years old, and insists his mother Andrea Kelly, the singer's ex-wife and star of U.S. reality series Hollywood Exes, has been extremely supportive of his life-changing transition.
He wrote, "My mom was like, 'Baby, you know I love you if you were bi (bisexual), gay, lesbian, you name it and I would still love you so much'. She was very proud of me, I was like, 'Thank you mom for accepting the fact that I'm a transgender.'"
He also added that he is eager to undergo the necessary operations to fully become a male so he can be comfortable in his own skin.
Kelly added, "I believe I am a boy and want surgery, and the medication to help me (be) who I was supposed to be."
His father has yet to publicly comment on the teen's recent announcement.
