Hip-hop star Ahmir 'questlove' Thompson has been forced to close his fried chicken restaurant in New York just six months after its launch.
The Roots drummer teamed up with business partner Steven Starr to open Hybird in the city's posh Chelsea neighbourhood in May (13), but while their food has won rave reviews from critics, poor sales have reportedly forced the pair to shutter the diner.
The musician penned a touching eulogy to the food hang-out on his Facebook.com blog, and, in the lengthy post, he confesses he's baffled by Hybird's failure to become a profitable business venture.
He writes, "most of you know that I stay on my culinary grind and a few months back I opened up my hybird stand in chelsea market w/ (with) restaurateur (sic) steven starr. long story short, we closed hybird...
"the stand is down. my foodie partner (starr) and I have killed the lofty idealized hybird... kinda weird to pull the plug considering the bird's critical swag."
