British royal Prince Andrew has accepted an official apology from armed police officers who detained him after mistaking him for an intruder at Buckingham Palace.
The Duke of York was challenged by cops during a stroll around the palace gardens and was ordered to surrender before his identity was eventually verified.
Police officials insisted "no force was used" in the prince's apprehension, and they have now issued an official apology.
Prince Andrew says in a statement, "The police have a difficult job to do balancing security for the Royal Family and deterring intruders, and sometimes they get it wrong. I am grateful for their apology and look forward to a safe walk in the garden in the future."
The incident on Wednesday (04Sep13) came just two days after a man was arrested for allegedly breaking into the palace. He was taken into custody along with another man who was detained outside the grounds. The alleged break-in sparked a review in security protocols at the famous London building.
