Two California adult film companies have been slapped with $30,500 (GBP16,940) fines each for promoting unsafe working environments that led to three actors contracting HIV.

Porn sets were closed down in March (04) when one actor infected with HIV spread the virus to three actresses he worked with in a film.

The hefty fines are the first issued in California for an adult film set, and are expected to lead to new standards in porn filmmaking.
