Poet and author Dannie Abse has died, aged 91.
The Welsh writer passed away on Sunday (28Sep14) after a short illness.
A statement from his publishers, Hutchinson Books, which was posted on Twitter.com, reads, "We're so saddened by the death the wonderful Dannie Abse. His poems will live on."
Abse was best known as a poet but was also a doctor and worked at a London clinic for more than 30 years.
He was regarded as one of Wales' best writers and his work was nominated for multiple literary awards including The Man Booker Prize.
