Paranormal Activity , which cost just $15,000 to make, is turning out to be as big a hit overseas as it was in the U.S. The Los Angeles Times reported today (Thursday) that the movie, which grossed $107.4 million in its domestic run, pulled in $34 million in its first international openings over the last two weeks. IM Global, the foreign distributor, attributed the strong ticket sales to the notoriety the movie received following its release in the U.S. The movie has turned out to be particularly potent in the U.K., where its has collected $11.8 million over the past two weeks. However, the Times noted, it has "bombed" in Germany, where it has grossed just $2 million over the same period. That result, the newspaper observed, reflects "a low mark for what is traditionally one of the biggest overseas movie markets."
Many ticket-holders couldn't get into the O2 Arena show on Tuesday night (September 19th) because they didn't bring photo ID to match their booking.
