Two people have appeared in a U.K. court accused of conspiring with late reggae star Smiley Culture in an alleged cocaine supply plot.
The star, real name David Emmanuel, was on bail for a drugs charge when he died during a police raid at his home in Surrey, England last March (11). He stabbed himself through the heart when cops tried to arrest him on a warrant relating to a different offence.
Lloyd MCCalla, 50, and Carlene Wilson, 27 appeared at Croydon Crown Court on Monday (16Jan12) and denied conspiring with the star to supply $640,000 (£400,000)-worth of cocaine in 2010.
Prosecutor Tom Little told the court, "David Emmanuel needed these drugs distributed and that is where the MCCalla family come in."
The case continues.
