It now appears that Pacific Rim, which took a beating domestically, is performing quite respectably overseas. In fact, with ticket sales of $35.3 million from 50 markets, it was the top earner internationally, according to Deadline.com. That result brought its foreign total to date to $110.9 million and its worldwide total to $178.5 million. The only problem is that, with its expensive special effects, the movie reportedly cost more than $200 million to make. The film has yet to open in Japan and China, two of the largest film markets, but few are predicting that it will be able to turn a profit, even if it outperforms predictions abroad.
