Overseas, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful opened in 46 markets, ringing up $69.9 million -- good, but neither great nor powerful. (By contrast, Disney's Alice in Wonderland opened with $94 million in ticket sales internationally in March 2010 and went on to earn $690 million over the course of its overseas run, bringing its worldwide gross to more than $1 billion.) Nevertheless, the film opened at No. 1 in the U.K., Russia, Australia and Japan. It has not yet opened in several key markets, including China and France.
