Overseas, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful opened in 46 markets, ringing up $69.9 million -- good, but neither great nor powerful. (By contrast, Disney's Alice in Wonderland opened with $94 million in ticket sales internationally in March 2010 and went on to earn $690 million over the course of its overseas run, bringing its worldwide gross to more than $1 billion.) Nevertheless, the film opened at No. 1 in the U.K., Russia, Australia and Japan. It has not yet opened in several key markets, including China and France.
'Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing)' arrives in April.
The two awards have made for a great 72nd birthday present for the country music icon.
