The sportsman was originally due to be freed from a South African jail in August (15), just 10 months into his five-year sentence for shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

His release was called off so the parole board could review the case, and on Thursday (15Oct15), they announced Pistorius will be freed on Tuesday (20Oct15) to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.

Pistorius shot the blonde model dead through a locked bathroom door at his home in Pretoria, South Africa in February, 2013. He was cleared of murder but found guilty of culpable homicide after telling a court he thought Steenkamp was a burglar.

Prosecutors have lodged an appeal against the verdict, as they are still pressing for a murder conviction.
