Authorities in Florida have declined to run toxicology tests on the body of mixed martial arts star Kimbo Slice as they do not believe his death is suspicious.
The 42-year-old fighter and actor, real name Kevin Ferguson, was hospitalised on Monday (06Jun16) in Coral Springs and died hours later.
A cause of death has yet to be announced, but shortly after his passing, Carla Kmiotek, a Coral Springs Police sergeant, declared no foul play was suspected, and now a representative for the Broward County Medical Examiner has confirmed no autopsy will be performed.
"We were informed of his death and after review of the circumstances, we declined jurisdiction," the spokesperson tells TMZ.com. "It is not a medical examiner case."
"No medical legal investigation, including toxicology is necessary," the rep added.
Slice's relatives still have the option to pay for a private examination if they want to investigate the circumstances which led to his death.
He last fought in February (16), when he took on Dada 5000 at the Bellator 149 event. Slice won the fight but his victory was overturned after he tested positive for a banned steroid.
