Daredevil high wire walker Nik Wallenda is hoping to follow his recent Grand Canyon stunt by making New Yorkers look up.
The stuntman crossed the Grand Canyon on a tightrope on Sunday (23Jun13) and now he plans to walk between the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings.
But he faces an uphill battle before he can even start preparing for the stunt because New York City police commissioner Ray Kelly insists he won't grant the necessary permits.
The top cop says, "It’s dangerous to cross the Grand Canyon, and obviously, there’s water at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Here, we have thousands of New Yorkers."
Unperturbed, Wallenda is hoping to meet with Big Apple mayor Michael Bloomberg and Governor Andrew Cuomo in a bid to get them on his side for the battle with the police commissioner.
