If NBC is going to allow Ann Curry out of her contract so that she can accept an offer from Jeff Zucker to join CNN as a primetime host, she is going to have to agree to stay off the air for six months, RadarOnline reported today (Thursday). However, the gossip website, citing an unnamed source, said that Curry has rejected that condition. NBC has made it clear that if they let Ann out of her contract, they want to keep her off the air of a competing network for at least six months, the source said. This is unacceptable to Ann. She has been on the air only in a very limited capacity, since her departure from Today. The website had previously reported that Today co-anchor Matt Lauer is also urging NBC execs to allow Curry to leave immediately.
